Intimate winter wedding

St. Hakea's director, Julia Touzel and husband Tom Kline, had an intimate winter wedding nestled in the stunning hills of the Macedon Ranges. Their dream was to create a beautiful dinner party with a relaxed vibe, phenomenal food, wine and music… and it was just that!

A restored 1970s Kombi, a coverted family heirloom, was a striking feature manning the entrance to the venue. Greenery and fruit branches adorned the aisle, tables and feature archway connecting the inside to the expansive treetop view.

Table centrepieces included flowers draping from copper cubes and tea light candles on marble coasters adding a modern touch to the space. Embossed handmade clay nametags doubled as a beautiful keepsake of the night.

Their casual ceremony included a Man Choir of eight cruisy guys singing a cappella with guests clustered around them. A full rainbow appeared in the backdrop as they said their ‘I do’s’, the bridal party popped the Sparkling and to Julia’s surprise, Tom commanded the Man Choir to ‘ASSEMBLE’ behind him as they launched into a version of ‘It must be love’ with Tom taking centre stage – the pinnacle of the wedding for them both!

Guests were treated to incredible Italian food matched to carefully chosen wine. Roaring open fires warmed the room and the five piece jazz band had the place humming with energy.

By the time dinner was finished the entrance feature table was overflowing with cheeses, desserts and magnums of vintage port from 1977 and 1982 to kick the party up a notch!

As the night progressed, a DJ accompanied by a live saxophonist and jazz flautist had the dance floor pumping and at night’s end, guests wandered to their adjacent rooms, hangover kits in hand.
